IND vs BAN: 5 Indian players who've been rested for the T20I series
IND vs BAN T20I series will kick off on October 6 with the first game in Gwalior.
On Saturday, 28th September, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Both teams will play three T20Is on October 6, 9, and 12 in Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian side.
Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag have retained their places, while Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy are likely to make their T20I debut for India. The hosts have brought back Varun Chakravarty, who hasn’t played since 2021.
Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and a few notable faces are also part of the team. However, India have rested a few big names to manage their workload. Below, we will talk about five Indian stars who have been rested from the IND vs BAN T20I series.
IND vs BAN: 5 Indian players who’ve been rested for the T20I series
1. Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill led India in the Zimbabwe tour and was vice-captain of the Sri Lankan white-ball tour. But, since he is an important member of India’s test setup, he has been rested for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Just like Gill, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has now become a regular member for India in the top-order in tests. India have a long test season coming up where they will play consecutive series against New Zealand and Australia, and India would want Jaiswal to be fresh and ready for the upcoming important assignments.
3. Rishabh Pant
Star wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is another player who is among first-choice players in all three formats. He has shown good signs on his test return with a century against Bangladesh in Chennai, and he can be a game-changer for the team against New Zealand and also in Australia.
That may be the reason that he has been rested from the IND vs BAN T20I series because there is only a three-day gap before the third T20I and first Test against New Zealand.
4. Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is currently India’s biggest asset, whom the management wants to use wisely. The ace pacer has a history of injuries, and India can’t take risk with him.
That is why he has been rested from the IND vs BAN T20I series. He will be crucial for the test matches coming ahead against New Zealand and Australia.
5. Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj is another player who has been playing consistently for India across formats. Since Mohammed Shami has sustained injury, the workload on Siraj has increased.
That is one reason India want to use him for important series. There is still no clarity on Shami’s return from injury; until then, Siraj’s role will be important.
