BCCI has announced 17-man squad for the remainder of IND vs ENG five-match test series.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the final three test matches against England. The ongoing five-match test series is leveled 1-1 after first two tests. England won the first test in Hyderabad and the hosts, India, bounced back in the second test in Vishakapatnam. The third test will be played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The third will start on 15th February.

In a major update, Virat Kohli has decided to skip the final three test matches against England citing personal reasons. Kohli earlier had opted out of the first two tests as well due to personal reasons. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are back in the squad but their selection is subjected to their fitness. They will need fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team to get included in the playing XI.

Virat Kohli not available for remainder of IND vs ENG test series:

The Board has accepted Virat Kohli’s request to skip the entire series. In an official release, The BCCI stated, “Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision.” Kohli has not revealed the reason behind his contiguous absence from the game.

Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan have retained their place in India’s 17-member squad for the final three test matches. Shreyas Iyer, who managed to score 104 runs in four innings in the first two tests, most likely has been dropped from the test side. There were reports of Iyer having back and groin pain after the second test, but the BCCI hasn’t informed about it during squad announcement for final three tests, which might mean he has been dropped from the side following poor string of performances.

Fast bowler Akash Deep has replaced Avesh Khan in the squad, while Sourabh Kumar, who replaced Ravindra Jadeja for the second test, has been released as well since Jadeja hs returned to the side.

India squad for last three tests against England:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep
