India are currently leading the five-match IND vs ENG test series 2-1 after completion of third match.

After winning the crucial third test match against Ben Stokes-led England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot by 434 runs, India are currently leading the five-match series by 2-1. Both sides will be traveling to Ranchi for the fourth test match, which will start on February 23. 

England won the opening match at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad by a close margin of 28 runs. In the Vizag Test, India bounced back and crushed the Three Lions by 106 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat in the third test, India were rocked back by the visitors and were reduced to 33/3, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rajat Patidar getting dismissed cheaply on the first session of day 1.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who came to bat at No. 5 with India having just scored 33/3 in 8.5 overs, stitched up a valuable partnership of 204 runs with the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who also notched up a brilliant century in the first innings and helped the hosts reach 445.

In reply to India’s first-innings total of 445, the English side was bundled out for 319 runs. Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj picked up a four-wicket haul and helped the hosts take a massive lead of 126 runs.

In India’s second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered his second double ton of the ongoing five-match series, along with Shubman Gill’s (91) and debutant batter Sarfaraz Khan’s (68*). During his stay, the young Indian opener, Jaiswal, scored 214 not out of 236 deliveries, including 14 fours and 12 sixes in his innings, and helped the hosts give a massive target of 557 runs to the Ben Stokes-led England.

Chasing the target, England were dealt with two early blows, with both of their openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley getting out cheaply. Indian bowlers were all over the English batters as they dismantled their batting line-up with some beautiful displays of spinning bowling.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up five wickets in the second innings, while Kuldeep Yadav picked two. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Ashwin shared one wicket apiece. England were bundled out for 122 runs, and India won the match by 434 runs with two more games to go in the ongoing five-match series.

After Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala will host fourth and fifth matches of the test series.

IND vs ENG 2024: Most runs

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a match-defining knock in the second innings of the third test and notched up a double century. Jaiswal currently leads the run-scorers list of the IND vs ENG 2024 test series with 545 runs in six innings. England top-order batter Ben Duckett is behind Yashasvi Jaiswal with 243 runs in six innings.

England’s No.3 batter Ollie Pope is third with 285 runs to his name in six innings. Shubman Gill, who notched up his first test ton at No. 3 for India in the second test match, is at fourth spot with 252 runs to his name. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has so far hit 240 runs stands at fifth spot.

IND vs ENG 2024: Most wickets

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is having a terrific series so far and picked up 17 scalps in three matches. The Indian speedster currently leads the top wicket-takers chart in the ongoing IND vs ENG five-match test series. Bumrah picked up nine wickets in the second test and two wickets in the recently concluded Rajkot test.

England left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is second in the list with 16 wickets in three games. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who picked a five-for in the second innings of the third test, now has 12 wickets to his name in the series. England’s Rehan Ahmed and Indian veteran spinner Ravi Ashwin have 11 wickets each to their name in the ongoing test series.
