IND vs ENG: 3 players who have been dropped from India squad for remainder of the series

BCCI announced 17-member squad for remainder of IND vs ENG test series on 10th February, Saturday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 17-member squad for the final three test matches of the ongoing series against England. Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Stadium will host the third test match, while the final two tests will be played in Ranchi and Dharamsala. The visitors won the first test in Hyderabad and the hosts bounced back with a magnificent victory in the second test in Vishakapatnam.
There were reports of Jasprit Bumrah missing the third test and India opting for a young pacer. But the team management looks clear with their thinking. Virat Kohli, who missed the first two tests citing personal reasons, has also pulled out of the final three tests citing personal reasons. India have made a few big changes in their side and dropped three players. Let’s have a look at the three players who have been dropped from the India squad for the remainder of the IND vs ENG test series.
1. Shreyas Iyer:

Following the second test in Vishakapatnam, reports emerged that the Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer complained of stiff back and groin pain, but while the BCCI announced India squad for remainder of IND vs ENG test series, the board didn’t give clarity on Iyer’s rumoured injury. With BCCI not officially stating Iyer has any sort of injury or he is headed to the NCA, it can be clearly understood that the middle-order batter has been dropped from the test squad following poor string of performances. Iyer managed to score 104 runs in four innings in the first two tests.
2. Saurabh Kumar:

The Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Saurabh Kumar earned his maiden test call-up in 2022, but he is yet to make his debut at the international level. Before the second test in Vishakapatnam, Saurabh was brought in as replacement for injured Ravindra Jadeja, but he couldn’t make it to the playing XI in second test as well. Ravindra Jadeja’s return to the squad has forced selectors to leave out Saurabh Kumar. So far, he has played 68 First Class matches and picked up 290 wickets. With the bat, Saurabh has scored 2061 runs in 86 innings.
3. Avesh Khan:

Pace Bowler Avesh Khan also has been dropped from the India squad for final three test matches against England. Avesh was part of the squad for first two IND vs ENG test matches played in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, but he wasn’t included in playing XI of both matches and was released to participate in Ranji Trophy 2023-24. It was expected that India might give Jasprit Bumrah a rest in the next test match and might try out a youngster in place of him, but Avesh has been dropped from India’s 17-member side for the final three test matches. Avesh is yet to make his test debut.
