Kuldeep Yadav registered 5/72 in the first inning against England at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin refused his teammate Kuldeep Yadav’s kind gesture to lead the Indian team towards the dressing room after the wily spinner scalped a five-wicket haul on day one of the fifth test against England at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday.

Ravichandran Ashwin had a memorable outing in his 100th test, picking up four crucial wickets to play a big role in India dismissing England for 218 on day one of the Dharamshala test. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav edged his senior teammate by grabbing a five-wicket haul and triggering a batting collapse, as England lost seven wickets inside 50 runs.

Though the spotlight was on the senior off-spinner Ashwin, who is playing his 100th test for India, Kuldeep Yadav stole the show with a kind gesture towards his teammate after picking up his fourth five-wicket haul in the longest format.

After bundling the visitors for 218 in the first innings, Kuldeep took the ball from the umpire and gave it to Ashwin, as he wanted him to lead the team off the field in his 100th test match. However, Ashwin refused, gave the ball back to Kuldeep and asked him to lead the Indian team towards the dressing room.

Kuldeep Yadav creates history

During his magical spell, Kuldeep etched his name into the records books, as he became the fastest spinner in the last 100 years to complete the feat as per the number of balls bowled.
