First day of second IND vs ENG test saw India having a great day with the bat.
After the exciting first IND vs ENG game, the England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team are locking horns with each other in the second game of the five-match series, which commenced on Wednesday (2nd July) at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
India had a solid start to the second game as they delivered a brilliant batting effort on day one. After being asked to bat first, they didn’t have a great start to their innings as centurion from the last game, KL Rahul, got out for just two. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) and Karun Nair (31), who was promoted to three, made sure that they made up for the early loss.
The Jaiswal-Nair duo added 80 runs for the second wicket, but just at the stroke of lunch, the right-hander lost his wicket. Skipper Shubman Gill (114*) joined hands with Jaiswal, and the duo did further damage, adding 66 runs for the third wicket. After the wicket of the opening batter, Gill ensured that he continued his golden form as he notched up his second ton of the series.
Rishabh Pant (25) played a decent hand as well, but Ravindra Jadeja (41*) supported the skipper brilliantly as the duo added 99 runs together, allowing India ended day one on high. At stumps, India were 310/5.
