Day one of the fourth IND vs ENG test saw both the teams winning a session each, while one was shared.

The fourth test between the England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team commenced on Wednesday (23rd July) at Old Trafford in Manchester. The first day of the game belonged to both teams as they had a decent outing, and it will be very hard to separate them at stumps.

After being asked to bat first, Indian openers KL Rahul (46) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) batted magnificently well against the new ball as the visitors had a wicketless first session. The duo added 94 runs for the opening partnership to put the opposition under pressure.

Sai Sudharsan (61), at three, slammed his maiden test fifty and looked solid, even though wickets kept falling at the other end. Rishabh Pant (37 retd hurt) batted in his usual aggressive way and added 72 runs with Sudharsan. However, he got struck on the foot and got retired hurt. He was carried off the field, and his injury looked much serious than expected.

After that, Shardul Thakur (19*) and Ravindra Jadeja (19*) looked good with the bat, adding 29 runs before the umpires took early stumps with India ending at 264 for four.
