The fifth IND vs ENG test at The Oval, London, commenced on July 31.

The fifth and final test of the series between the England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team commenced on Thursday (31st July) at The Oval. It was a rain-affected day one, and the hosts had a great outing with the ball.

India didn’t have a great start with the bat on a lush green wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for just two runs, and after that, KL Rahul, who faced 40 balls, was back in the hut too for 14 runs as the visitors were left reeling at 38 for two.

Skipper Shubman Gill (21) looked solid with the bat and played some magnificent shots as well. However, he gifted his wicket away as he got run out. The start and stop due to rain also didn’t help India as Sai Sudharsan (38), who looked promising, fell to a peach by Josh Tongue, who then produced a similar delivery to send Ravindra Jadeja packing for nine.

Things got even more worse for India when Dhruv Jurel (19) fell as well, and they were left at 153 for six. With the team under pressure, Karun Nair (52*) slammed a superb half-century, his first in the longest format of the game.

He was supported well by Washington Sundar (19*) as the duo added 51 runs for the seventh wicket to end the day one at 204 for six for India.
