India had a solid outing with the bat and ball on day two of the second IND vs ENG test.
The England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team are locking horns with each other in the second game of the five-match series. The match is taking place at Edgbaston in Birmingham and has so far seen two fantastic days of cricket.
The second day of the ongoing second test between England and India belonged to the Shubman Gill-led side. The visitors had a dominating day with the bat and ball as they took command of the match.
Resuming at the overnight score of 310/5, India continued from where they left off yesterday. Shubman Gill (269) and Ravindra Jadeja (89) extended their partnership from 99 on day two and added 203 runs for the sixth wicket.
However, the talk of the town was skipper Gill as he hit a sensational double ton and broke a plethora of records, taking his team to a dominating position.
Washington Sundar (42) played as a great support to Gill, adding 144 runs for the seventh wicket. Thanks to their brilliant effort, India posted a gigantic total of 587 runs.
With the ball, India were off to a flying start. Akash Deep removed Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, who slammed centuries in the last game, on two back-to-back balls. After that, Mohammed Siraj stepped up too and removed Zak Crawley as England was left reeling at 25 for three.
With the team under pressure, Joe Root (18*) and Harry Brook (30*) joined hands and brought their team back in the game with their 52* run stand. At stumps on day two, England ended at 77/3, trailing by 510 runs.
