England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team are crossing swords with each other in a mouth-watering clash at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Shubman Gill-led side is on the verge of scripting history as they look hot favourites to win their first-ever test at the venue.
India had a dominating outing in day four of the ongoing second test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. After resuming the innings at 63/1 with a massive lead of 243 runs, they didn’t have a great start as Karun Nair (26) got out early.
But, KL Rahul (55) came up with a brilliant fifty to keep his team at the top. However, the real show came from skipper Shubman Gill (161), who slammed his second century of the game and took the game away from England.
Rishabh Pant (65) and Ravindra Jadeja (69*) supported the captain brilliantly with their fifties, adding 110 and 175 runs for the fourth and fifth wickets respectively. Thanks to their brilliant effort with the bat, India declared on 427 for six, setting the hosts a target of 608.
With the ball, India had a terrific start as Zak Crawley got out for a duck. After that, Akash Deep removed Ben Duckett (25) and Joe Root to reduce England to 50/3. At stumps on day four, the hosts were 72/3 with Ollie Pope (22*) and Harry Brook (15*) at the crease.
