IND vs ENG, Ollie Pope, Shubman Gill

Going into the fifth day of the IND vs ENG fifth test, England need 35 runs while India are four wickets away from a win.

The England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team had a roller-coaster ride on day four of the fifth test at The Oval in London on Sunday. The hosts came up with a massive effort with the bat, but the Shubman Gill-led side kept chipping in with wickets at crucial stages.

Resuming at the overnight score of 50/1, England had a decent start to day four with Ben Duckett (54) hitting a valiant fifty. He, along with Ollie Pope (27), added 32 runs for the second wicket. But India made a great comeback, picking up two wickets in the first session.

However, after that, nothing went in India’s favour as Harry Brook (111), who slammed a brutal ton, and Joe Root (105), who hit his third ton of the series, took the game away from India. They counter-attacked the bowlers and added 195 runs for the fourth wicket in a flash. Notably, they scored 153 runs in the second session.

But in the last session, India came up with quick wickets and put England under great pressure. The bad light and rain, however, didn’t support them as the Umpires were forced to take early stumps. At stumps on day four, England were 339/6, needing 35 runs more to win.
