Right arm pacer Akash Deep became 313th test cricketer for India.

Born in Bihar’s Sasaram, Akash Deep has completed his one phase of journey in cricket. Right-arm pacer Akash became India’s 313th test player. He was rewarded his maiden test cap at the JSCA Cricket Stadium in Ranchi. The 26-year-old Akash played 30 First Class (FC) games for Bengal in Indian domestic cricket before making his test debut. Akash bowled a brilliant opening spell on first day at international cricket.

Akash Deep picked up three crucial wickets for India on first session and put England on back foot. He dismissed Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope. In his spell, Zack Crawley almost became his first-ever test wicket, when umpire called it a no ball. Akash looked confident while bowling and never looked under pressure during the entire day. He replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian Playing XI.

After the end of day one, Akash Deep had a chat with broadcasters and looked upbeat about his game. Akash Deep said, “I wasn’t nervous, had spoken with my coaches, so I wasn’t tense ahead of the game. I don’t know how it happened, but I used to take every game as my last game and tried my best.” Akash was on target from the first ball and almost got his first wicket in his second over.

Akash Deep also revealed that ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also a great help for him. He added, “Bumrah bhai advised me to drag the length back slightly, that’s exactly what I did.” Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the fourth test match in Ranchi to manage his workload. Right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj was also rested from the second test in Visakhapatnam.

Akash Deep also revealed that the bowlers were also getting a bit of help from the Ranchi wicket as well. He said, “There was a bit of help early on but the ball became soft and the wicket was slow as well. We just tried to be as tight as possible and bowl in the right areas.” England have scored 302 runs at the loss of 7 wickets at the end of first day’s play. Joe Root has slammed his 31st test century.
