IND vs ENG: Fans criticize KS Bharat as wicket-keeper fails with bat on home turf

KS Bharat scored 17 in the first and 6 in the second innings of the second test on his home turf.

India’s search for a formidable wicket-keeper batter is still on. Despite getting first preference over the likes of Ishan Kishan and others, Bharat is yet to shine. Bharat once again disappointed everyone with his poor show with the bat on his home turf in Visakhapatnam. Young English leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed dismissed Bharat for just six in the second innings.

KS Bharat had a disappointing show with the bat in the first innings as well. Srikar Bharat got a decent start on day one, but he was dismissed for 17. Indian fans are disappointed with Bharat’s continuous poor show with the bat and social media was flooded with his severe criticism. Srikar Bharat has so far played seven test matches for India but he’s yet to hit a fifty.

KS Bharat slammed after poor show with bat

Indian fans on social media questioned Srikar Bharat’s place in the Indian playing XI over Ishan Kishan. KS Bharat made his test debut against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Bharat was part of India’s XI till the WTC final, but his persistent failures prompted Indian team management to look at Ishan Kishan as his replacement but he could only play two test matches.

Here’s how critics reacted to KS Bharat’s poor show with the bat:

KS Bharat was once again preferred as wicket-keeper batter against England over Dhruv Jurel. Srikar Bharat did had a decent start in the Hyderabad test, but his dismissal in the second innings made everyone question his temperament. He has played seven test matches for India so far and scored 221 runs in 12 test innings. Bharat’s average in test cricket stands at 20.09 with a highest score of just 44.

Andhra Pradesh wicket-keeper impressed everyone with his splendid show with the bat in Ranji Trophy and India A tours, but so far he has failed to replicate the same performance at international level. Bharat has played 96 First Class games and scored 5101 runs at an average oaf 59.89 with 10 centuries. Indian team management might look to try out Dhruv Jurel in the Rajkot test.
