IND vs ENG: "Prince is back.." Fans troll Shubman Gill following his failure in 3rd test

Shubman Gill scored a nine ball duck against England in the third test at Niranjan Shah Stadium.

Indian top-order batter Shubman Gill has failed to carry forward his form in the Rajkot test. Gill was dismissed on a nine-ball duck in the first innings of the third test against England. Team India have also suffered a few early blows in the game as Visakhapatnam test hero Yashasvi Jaiswal also got dismissed early in the innings. Mark Wood bowled a brilliant spell in the first hour of the game.

Shubman Gill scored a magnificent century in the second test after reportedly being given an ultimatum from Indian camp at the end of the first test. Gill was expected to move out of the Indian camp and play in the Ranji Trophy. But a century in Visakhapatnam test gave him a place in the India squad for final three tests against England.

Shubman Gill out on a duck in Rajkot test

Social media users have brutally trolled Shubman Gill for yet another poor show with bat in tests. Lot of memes were posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) targeting the Indian batter. Since he has moved himself down to number 3 in the batting order, Gill has scored only one fifty plus knock in seven test matches. Many fans have also raised questions over Shubman Gill’s place in the Indian test team.

Here’s how twitter reacted to Gill’s yet another failure in tests:

Shubman Gill was not looking comfortable during his stay at the crease and England bowlers were right on target against Gill. Pacer Mark Wood delivered a slightly fuller length to draw him forward. Gill didn’t move much and the ball took an outside edge and went straight to wicket-keeper Ben Foakes’ gloves. This was second wicket for Mark Wood in the first 20 minutes of the first session.

Team India won the toss and elected to bat first in Rajkot test. Mark Wood dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) caught at slip by Joe Root in his second over. Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley dismissed Rajat Patidar (5) with his extra bounce. Patidar was caught at cover by Ben Duckett. Captain Rohit Sharma and All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have taken India close to 100 at the end of first session’s play.
