India have set a target of 608 runs for England in the second IND vs ENG test at Edgbaston.

The Indian Cricket Team and the England Cricket Team commenced their journey in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 with a five-match test series against each other. The second test of the series is currently underway at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

After being asked to bat first in the encounter, India piled up a gigantic total of 587/10 in the first innings. Skipper Shubman Gill (269) slammed a marvellous double century to power India to a big total. With Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul, India bowled out England for 407 in the first innings, earning a huge lead of 180 runs.

In the second innings, Gill (161) hammered another century to drive the scoreboard to 427/6 before declaring the innings. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja also scored crucial half-centuries, helping India to set a target of 608 runs for England. On day five, India need seven wickets to win the encounter while England need 536 more runs for victory.

How many ICC WTC points will India and England share if the Edgbaston test ends in a draw?

However, with rain delaying start of day five’s action at Edgbaston, there is a high chance of the match getting drawn. Notably, India haven’t won a test match at the venue and will be looking to register a historic win.

With a loss in the first test of the ongoing series, India are yet to open their account in the ICC WTC 2025-27 points table. But, with the current scenario of the game, it is sure that either way – a win or a rain-marred draw – India will open their account in the points table.

In the ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle, teams earn 12 points for winning a test match. However, if a match ends in a draw, both teams are awarded four points each. Hence, if the Edgbaston test ends in a draw, both India and England will share four points each.

England currently grab the second spot in ICC WTC 2025-27 points table with one victory in one game. They have a win percentage (PCT) of 100.0 and 12 points. India occupy the fifth spot with one defeat in their kitty.

While the victory looks almost impossible for England at this stage, they have a chance to draw the Edgbaston test if they evade getting all out against India. The Ben Stokes & Co. have a strong batting unit that can tackle India’s bowling attack. Meanwhile, England lead the five-match series 1-0 after winning the opening test by five wickets.
