KL Rahul has been ruled out of the fifth IND vs ENG test in Dharamsala.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared update on India squad for the fifth and final test against England to be played from 7th March in Dharamsala.

Indian batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the fifth and final test in Dharamsala after failing to get fit on time. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue.

“KL Rahul, whose participation in the final IDFC First Bank Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue,” the BCCI said in a statement.

India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been returned to the squad for the Dharamsala test against England. It is to be noted that the right-arm fast bowler was rested for the fourth test in Ranchi to balance his workload management.

“Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad in Dharamsala for the 5th Test,” the BCCI added

Off-spinner Washington Sundar also has been released from the Indian test squad. Sundar will join Tamil Nadu (his domestic team) for the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 semi-final clash against Mumbai, starting March 2nd, 2024.

“Washington Sundar has been released from the squad. He will join Tamil Nadu – his Ranji Trophy side – for their Ranji Trophy Semi-final fixture against Mumbai, starting March 2nd, 2024. He will join the India squad after the completion of the domestic fixture for the fifth Test, if need be,” BCCI concluded.

India have defeated England in three out of four matches played so far in the ongoing five-match test series and sealed the series with an unassailable lead of 3-1.

The visitors started the series on a winning note, but the hosts bounced back nicely and registered three back-to-back wins to hand England their first test series defeat since Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes took charge as coach and captain, respectively.

India squad for fifth IND vs ENG test:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
