The IND vs ENG 2025 T20I series will get underway on January 22 in Kolkata.

After a disappointing test season, the Indian Cricket Team is set to face England in a five-match T20I series, followed by a three ODIs starting. The England’s tour of India 2025 will start on January 22.

India’s recent form in test cricket has been underwhelming. The Asian giants hit an unprecedented low in October, suffering their first-ever home test series whitewash in a test series having three or more games against New Zealand.

The team then toured Australia, starting strong with an emphatic 295-run victory in Perth. However, India gradually lost momentum and went on to lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 by a 3-1 margin.

While their test form has been dismal, the T20I team has been in an outstanding form. India won all their bilateral series in 2024 and clinched the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title. Under new skipper Suryakumar Yadav, India have won three consecutive T20I series.

On that note, let’s take a look at what happened the last time when England played India in India in a T20I series.

What happened the last time England toured India for a T20I series?

England’s tour of India in 2021 featured a thrilling five-match T20I series that India won 3-2. Due to COVID restrictions, all five T20Is of that series were played in Ahmedabad.

England began the series with an eight-wicket victory in the first match, but the hosts bounced back strongly in the second T20I with a seven-wicket win to level the series.

England regained their lead in the third T2oI with a dominant eight-wicket victory. However, India staged a strong comeback again, winning the fourth T20I by eight runs. India sealed the series in the deciding T20I by 36 runs.

Virat Kohli was named Player of the Series for scoring 231 runs across five games. Shardul Thakur emerged as the leading wicket taker with eight wickets at an average of 21.
