IND vs ENG: Major update on India's playing 11 for semi-final 2 of T20 World Cup 2026

The IND vs ENG semi-final 2 will take place on March 5.

India will face England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026. This match will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and the match will start at 7.30 pm IST.

England have performed brilliantly so far after winning a hard-fought match against Nepal at the start of the tournament. Since then, England have been on a winning path, defeating Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the Super 8 stage on their way into the semis, with Harry Brook leading from the front.

On the other hand, India also performed well and won all the matches in the group stage. Although they lost their first Super 8 match to South Africa, they qualified for the semi-final by defeating Zimbabwe and the West Indies.

India will likely start with the same team in the semi-final match against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.  According to The Indian Express, defending champions will play with the same combination that defeated the West Indies in Sunday’s crucial match in Kolkata.

On the eve of the match, Morne Morkel, India’s bowling coach, expressed uncertainty regarding the wicket’s behaviour on Thursday.

“We’re not quite sure a day out how the wicket is going to play. It’s a lot hotter all of a sudden in India, so in terms of moisture and allowing the wicket not to dry out, I think it’s going to be key to playing well.

The team will be selected based on what is seen on the day of the match. From there, we just need to be smart in our skills, read the conditions, and adapt to them. I expect it to be a good wicket, high-scoring game. We are preparing ourselves for tough conditions, and from there, we will assess. If we go in with a mindset that it is going to be a high-scoring game and we need to be up to the standard, I’d say that’s a good place to be,” Morkel said on the pre-game press conference.

According to the report, the management of the Indian team took a close look at the pitch on Tuesday and Wednesday. Given the recent hot and humid weather in Mumbai, dew could be a major factor in Thursday’s game.

The toss will also be crucial for both sides once more if the weather stays the same, as there was dew on Wednesday night during England’s practice. This will be the third consecutive time India will face England in a T20 World Cup semi-final.

India’s likely playing XI against England in the semi-final:

Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah.
