IND vs ENG 2025: Most runs, most wickets after 1st T20I, Kolkata

India won the IND vs ENG 1st T20I in Kolkata by seven wickets.

On Wednesday, the Indian cricket team cruised to a seven-wicket victory over England in the first T20I in Kolkata to take a lead 1-0 in the five-match series.

After opting to bowl first, India struck early, reducing England to 65/4 in 8 overs. Arshdeep Singh took two wickets with the new ball, en route which he made history to become India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal. Varun Chakravarthy also impressed, taking three wickets for 23 runs in his four-over spell.

Jos Buttler was the only English batter to score more than 20 runs; the England skipper top-scored with 68. His innings, featuring eight fours and two sixes, helped England reach a total of 132.

In reply, India got off to a strong start, reaching 63/2 in the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a brilliant 79-run knock, which included five fours and eight sixes. Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma made handy contributions of 26 and 19, respectively, as India raced to the target with 43 balls to spare.

IND vs ENG: Most runs

Thanks to his excellent half-century, Indian opener Abhishek Sharma leads the runs chart for the series with 79 runs. Following Abhishek with 68 runs is England captain Jos Buttler.

Samson’s 26-run innings placed him at the third spot, while his teammate Tilak Varma follows closely with 19 runs. Harry Brook with 17 runs is fifth on the list.

Varun Chakravarthy tops the wickets chart with three scalps, while Arshdeep Singh, Jofra Archer, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya follow with two wickets each. Among them, Arshdeep had the best economy rate of 4.25, placing him second on the list.
