Debutant Rajat Patidar scored 32 runs in his maiden test innings in second IND vs ENG test in Visakhapatnam.

Debutant Rajat Patidar had a decent start to his test career for India. The 30-year-old Madhya Pradesh batter became the 310th test player from India. Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan handed Patidar the prestigious Indian test cap ahead of the start of the second test match against England at Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Patidar had an unfortunate dismissal in his first-ever test innings after a good start to his innings.

Rajat Patidar (32) was looking solid in his defense and had a terrific partnership along with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for the fourth wicket. Patidar even after looking good with his batting had to walk back due to an unfortunate dismissal off English leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed.

Rehan Ahmed was relentlessly targeting the stumps against Indian batters, but Rajat Patidar also looked determined to make the occasion special for himself. In the 72nd over of Indian innings, Patidar looked to play a forward defense and he got a good touch of the ball on his bat as well, but unfortunately, the ball found a way through the gap and went to dislodge the bails.

Rajat Patidar replaced KL Rahul in Indian playing XI and he got his opportunity at number five in Indian batting-order. Patidar scored 32 runs in 72 balls with three boundaries in his maiden test innings. Rajat was preferred over Sarfaraz Khan, who was scoring heavily in Indian domestic cricket. Patidar added 70 runs with centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal for the fourth wicket.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is racing towards a big knock against England in the second test. Jaiswal has scored 150 and is still going strong against the English bowlers. He is making English spin attack work hard against him. Rohit Sharma (14) and Shubman Gill (34) had a failure once again in the ongoing test series. Shreyas Iyer (27) and Rajat Patidar (32) also failed to convert their starts into a big score in Visakhapatnam.
