Ravi Ashwin dismissed England captain Ben Stokes for two in the second innings of the Dharamsala test.

England would like to forget the ongoing Indian tour before they land at Heathrow Airport in London after a few days from now. England’s ‘Bazball’ has been tamed by the Indian bowlers in the ongoing five-match test series. English batting struggled against Indian bowlers, especially spin bowling attack and failed to put up a strong challenge after the first test in Hyderabad.

India are in commanding position at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Ace Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin’s bowling spell dominated the first session of play on Day three of the fifth test match. Ashwin once again castled Stokes early in his innings. Ravi Ashwin has dismissed Ben Stokes for the record 13th time in test cricket, which is most by an Indian bowler against a batter.

Ashwin rattles Ben Stokes

English captain Ben Stokes walked out to bat at number 6 for England in the second innings. England had already lost four wickets under 100. Stokes needed one big innings and partnership to take England closer to India’s 259-run lead. Unfortunately, Stokes couldn’t stay for long at the wicket and got his stumps rattled by Ashwin’s classical off-spin delivery.

Ravi Ashwin drew Stokes forward for a defensive shot but he was completely out of place to make a connection with the ball. Ashwin’s classical off-spin delivery turned a bit and went straight through the gap between his bat and pad and hit straight top of the off-stump. Stokes was fifth English batter to be dismissed at the end of the first session in Dharamsala on day three.

Ravi Ashwin has taken 8 wickets in the game so far. Kuldeep Yadav has also picked up a wicket in the second innings. Kuldeep went on to take five-wicket haul in the first innings of Dharamsala test. England are still 156 runs away with only five wickets left to play. Captain Rohit Sharma is not taking field on day three due to back spasm. Jasprit Bumrah is leading India in his absence.
