IND vs ENG: Ravindra Jadeja apologises to Sarfaraz Khan for running him out in 3rd test

Ravindra Jadeja ran out debutant Sarfaraz Khan when he was batting on 62.

In the third test of the five-match series between India and England in Rajkot, the first day’s play concluded with India staging a remarkable turnaround after a shaky start at 33/3. Rohit Sharma and Jadeja joined forces, constructing a formidable partnership of 204 runs for the fourth wicket, which revitalised India’s innings. Despite the wicket flattening out and favourable batting conditions, both batsmen deserve full credit for their outstanding rescue mission.

The match witnessed a dramatic twist as India faced early setbacks within the opening hour, losing Jaiswal, Gill, and Patidar. The decision to send Jadeja at number 5 proved to be a masterstroke, bolstering India’s batting lineup. Rohit, who had failed in the previous tests, finally reached the coveted century milestone. His ability to handle short balls and execute skillful shots demonstrated his class.

Sarfaraz Khan flawless on his test debut

Sarfaraz Khan’s debut performance was nothing short of spectacular, scoring a quick-fire 50 off just 48 balls. However, his eagerness to assist Jadeja in reaching his century led to his unfortunate run-out dismissal. With England taking the new ball, anticipation mounts for a strong comeback from them on the following day.

Jadeja, the local hero, once again displayed his batting class at his home ground, displaying remarkable skill and familiarity. His contribution will be pivotal for India’s pursuit of a score ranging between 450 and 500 runs. As the test progresses, both teams are expected to intensify their efforts, ensuring an enthralling contest ahead. With the stage set for a gripping battle, fans eagerly await the unfolding drama in Rajkot.

Sarfaraz attracted the attention of the onlookers, overshadowing Jadeja momentarily. Displaying remarkable class and shot selections, the newcomer smashed his maiden half-century in just 48 balls. As Jadeja approached a well-deserved century, Sarfaraz’s aggressive batting style briefly stole the limelight.

Ravindra Jadeja’s mistake cost Sarfaraz Khan his wicket

Sarfaraz scored a blistering 61 runs off 65 balls. When Jadeja was close to a century, the focus shifted back to Jadeja, who was tantalisingly close to his century. Jadeja wanted a single, which was not there, to complete his hundred. Sarfaraz responded to it, only to be sent back. However, he could not reach the crease on time, as Mark Wood’s direct hit halted his flawless innings.

After the game, Jadeja apologised for his mistake and accepted that it was his mistake. He posted an Instagram story, feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan.

Ravindra Jadeja posted, “Feeling bad for Sarfaraz Khan. It was my wrong call. Well played.”
