Soon after getting hit on helmet, Rohit Sharma asked for medical attention and he was provided instantly.
Indian opening batter and captain Rohit Sharma was hit on his helmet by Mark Wood’s nasty bouncer on day 1 of the ongoing third test match in Rajkot on Thursday, February 15.
The incident happened during the 10th over of the first innings, when Mark Wood came in charging towards Rohit with a vicious delivery that hit onto grill of Rohit’s helmet, and the ball went behind the stumps. However, the Indian skipper was taken by surprise by the bounce off the pitch.
Soon after the delivery, Wood rushed towards Rohit to check if he is all right or not. After that, Indian physio also came charging towards the Indian skipper and did a precautionary concussion test.
The hosts India, were rocked back by the visitors as they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rajat Patidar cheaply in the first session of the third test match.

Meanwhile, India made four changes to their playing XI for the third test with the five-match series leveled at 1-1. Sarfaraz Khan and wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel were handed their test debut caps, while pacer Mohammed Siraj and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returned to the playing XI replacing Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said “We’ve made some changes, made four changes. Some injuries and some guys coming back from the last game. Two debutants. Siraj and Jadeja are back. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar miss out. Looks a good pitch, better than the last two we’ve played on. Rajkot is known to be a good pitch but it’ll deteriorate as it goes. The guys have stood up and done the job for the team when it was needed. The next three Test matches will be as exciting as the first two. Need to keep our focus here and see how we can do well,” Rohit said at the toss.
