Rohit Sharma completed 4000 runs in tests during India’s fourth match against England in Ranchi.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has responded to England left-handed batter and opener Ben Duckett’s Bazball comment. Ahead of the upcoming fifth and final test match between India and England, Sharma targeted Duckett for the comment he made on Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

During the third test match at Rajkot, left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his second double ton in the ongoing series. After Jaiswal’s stunning knock, England opener Ben Duckett said that Bazball deserved some credit for the way the youngster batted.

“When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play test cricket,” Ben Duckett said during the Rajkot test.

“We saw it a bit in the summer and it’s quite exciting to see other players and other teams are also playing that aggressive style of cricket,” he had further added.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the fifth test match against England, Indian captain Rohit Sharma responded to Ben Duckett’s comment on Yashasvi Jaiswal.

“There was a guy called Rishabh Pant in our team, probably Ben Duckett hasn’t seen him play,” Rohit Sharma cheekily responded to Duckett’s comment.

The Indian skipper was once again questioned about the Bazball approach, to which Sharma replied that he hadn’t seen mindless attacking or wild swinging from any batters from England throughout the series. The India skipper also praised England for playing much better cricket this time as compared to their previous tour to India.

“I just don’t know what Bazball means. I haven’t seen wild swinging from anyone. England have played better cricket than they were here last time. But, I still don’t know what Bazball means,” concluded the Indian captain.

Ben Duckett criticized for his comments on Yashasvi Jaiswal

Former West Indies player Chris Gayle criticized Duckett’s statement on Jaiswal, asking him to check the history of world cricket. “Attacking cricket has been played for years, even before Chris Gayle actually set foot on the international scene as well. We had the likes of Viv Richards, those guys set it up for us. Brian Lara, those guys are attacking players in all formats as well. When you actually check their stats, do check how they went about their innings.”

Meanwhile, England have announced their playing XI for the fifth game against India. The final test will be played at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala from March 7-11. The visitors have made just one change as speedster Mark Wood replaces Ollie Robinson.

Veteran fast bowler James Anderson retains his spot and he will be accompanied by Wood in England’s pace bowling attack for the Dharamshala test. The rest of the bowling lineup remains the same with Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley and Joe Root handling the spin department for the visitors.
