IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma breaks 73 years old test record of Vijay Hazare
Rohit Sharma scored 131 runs with three sixes and 14 fours in the Rajkot test.
India captain Rohit Sharma created history on day 1 of the ongoing third test between India and England. This match is being played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Saurashtra from February 15, 2024.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting beauty wicket. But it was England who started well. Mark Wood had Yashasvi Jaiswal caught at slips for 10 runs and then 9 balls later, he had Shubman Gill out in slips as well for a duck.
Rajat Patidar looked good, but Tom Hartley picked his wicket as well for just five runs, reducing India to 33/3 inside nine overs. But then captain Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was promoted up the order, took the fight to England bowlers.
The duo added a brilliant 204 runs for the fourth wicket. Rohit Sharma hit his 11th Test century and Ravindra Jadeja also completed a brilliant fifty, as England bowlers were made to toil hard on a batting-friendly surface in Rajkot.
