Shivam Dube last played a T20I for India in July 2024.

India kicked off the IND vs ENG T20I series with a thumping win by seven wickets in Kolkata.

First, the bowlers restricted England to a below-par total of 132 runs and then the batters gunned down the target down with 43 balls to spare, courtesy of Abhishek Sharma’s blistering knock of 79 runs off 34 balls that included five fours and eight sixes.

The action now moves to Chennai, where the second T20I of the series will be played on Saturday.

Before the match, India have reportedly made one change in their squad due to an injury.

It has been learned that Shivam Dube will be replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy in the squad as the latter has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a side strain.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Reddy has been advised four weeks rest, and Dube will be available from the third T20I.

Reddy played in the first T20I in Kolkata but did not get to bowl or bat. Reddy had featured in all five test matches in Australia, where he returned as India’s second-leading run-scorer.

Meanwhile, Dube was part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024-winning team and was part of the tour of Sri Lanka in July-August but then missed all international action since then with a back injury.

He returned in domestic cricket. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Dube scored 151 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 179. Then he featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and one Ranji Trophy match.
