Shubman Gill joined former Indian captain MS Dhoni in an unique unwanted feat in test cricket.

Currently India and England are engaged in the third of five-match test series at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The series is leveled at 1-1, with England winning first test in Hyderabad and India winning the second in Visakhapatnam.

During day 4 of the Rajkot test, Indian batter Shubman Gill looked to reach his fourth test century when a terrible mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav cost him his wicket. With India having a lead of over 400 against the English side, Gill played a very crucial knock in the second innings for the Indian side.

However, batting on 91 runs, India’s No. 3 batter Gill fell to a poor call in the middle and lost his wicket, just nine runs away from his well-deserved century. The Indian star batter was seen very upset with himself for departing so close to a century. Kuldeep Yadav, who made a wrong call that perished Gill’s wicket, was also disappointed with himself.

The right-handed batter Gill, did put in a desperate dive to reach the non-striker’s end, but he was inches short of making his ground. After getting run-out, Gill was seen shaking his head in disappointment and even slammed his bat in frustration while returning to the dressing room.

After his unlucky dismissal in the India vs England third test in Rajkot, Shubman Gill joined former Indian skipper MS Dhoni in a unique list which was created 12 years ago. The right-handed batter, Gill, became the second Indian batter after Dhoni to get run-out while batting on 90s against England in tests.

In the India vs England 2012 test series, legendary Indian batter MS Dhoni also missed a century as he fell short of making his ground and got run out for 99.
