Tilak Varma registered his third T20I half-century against England in Chennai.
Tilak Varma‘s unbeaten 72 in the second T20I in Chennai helped India secure a 2-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England.
Chasing 166 runs, India maintained a good run rate but kept losing wickets, finding themselves at 78/5 after nine overs. Varma then partnered with Washington Sundar to add 38 runs for the sixth wicket, before adding the final 40 runs with Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi.
Known for hitting boundaries at will, Varma showed his ability to adapt to the situation and stay calm under pressure. His 72 off 55 balls included four fours and five sixes, with a strike rate of 131—much lower than his usual aggressive style.
His match-winning innings also helped the 22-year-old reach an impressive milestone, surpassing legends like David Warner and Aaron Finch on the list.
