Abhishek Sharma hammered 135 runs off 54 balls in Mumbai.
In what is just his 17th T20I match, Abhishek Sharma notched up his second T20I century as he smashed 135 runs off only 54 balls against England in the fifth IND vs ENG T20I, played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Few batsmen in the world epitomise the ultra-aggressive intent that Abhishek does. He has a strike rate of 193 in his T20I career but on Sunday, he went at a strike rate of 250.
In the powerplay, the left-hander tore into the England pace trio of Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Jamie Overton to notch up his half-century off only 17 balls, registering the second-fastest T20I fifty by an Indian.
Abhishek then took down spinners Liam Livingstone and Adil Rashid with utter disdain and reached his century off 37 balls, also the second-fastest for India.
Sharma didn’t stop there. While wickets fell around him, he continued on his rampage and kept smoking the England bowlers for boundaries all around the Wankhede.
Eventually, his innings was ended at the score of 135 runs, which is the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in T20I cricket. Overall, he walloped seven fours and 13 sixes in his entertaining innings.
Fans on Twitter hailed Abhishek for his spectacular knock.
