Umesh Yadav last played a test for India in the ICC WTC 2023 final against Australia.

Veteran India Umesh Yadav uploaded a cryptic Instagram story after the BCCI selectors overlooked him yet again when selecting the Indian test line-up. On Saturday, February 10, India announced their roster for the final three test matches against England.

Despite Mohammed Shami’s unavailability due to injury, the selectors did not summon the senior Vidarbha pacer. Avesh Khan was dismissed from the squad, and Akash Deep, who impressed against the England Lions, received his first India call-up.

On the other hand, Umesh Yadav last played a Test for India against Australia in the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023 at the Oval. Umesh has also played 75 ODIs and nine T20Is for India, taking 106 and nine wickets in them, respectively.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-24, Umesh has picked 19 wickets in four matches for Vidarbha, including two four-wicket hauls. The third test between India and England will commence on February 15 in Rajkot, while the fourth test will kick off in Ranchi on February 23, the fifth and final test of the series will be played in Dharamsala from March 7. The series is currently equaled 1-1.

Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav remains out of contention despite 139 wickets in 34 Tests to his name in tests played in India. His only 10-wicket haul came in India itself, against West Indies and his best bowling of 6/88 came in the same encounter as well.

Undeterred by the recent snub, Umesh Yadav posted a motivational quote on his Instagram.
