IND vs ENG: Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour provides update on KL Rahul's injury

KL Rahul has been out of action after the first IND vs ENG test in Hyderabad.

Indian batter KL Rahul is once again dealing with injuries and has missed three back-to-back test matches against England. Rahul was part of the playing XI in Hyderabad test, but had to miss the next three games in Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Ranchi due to quadriceps injury. Rahul was expected to return for the fourth test match in Ranchi, but he is yet to be 100% match fit.

KL Rahul complained about problem in his right quadriceps after the end of first test match in Hyderabad. Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour has now provided a major update on Rahul and revealed that the Indian middle-order batter is still not fit. Rathour’s statement gives a clear hint that Rahul is likely to miss the fifth test match in Dharamshala as well.

Vikram Rathour provides update on KL Rahul

Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour told reporters in the pre-match press conference that medical team will soon advise about his availability back in the Indian playing XI. KL Rahul was running good form, he recently scored a century against South Africa in Centurion and then played a crucial knock of 86 runs against England in the first test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Explaining about KL Rahul’s injury, Vikram Rathour said, “For me either he is fit or he is not. At the moment he is not fit. I am not sure what percent he is fit at the moment and what is the stage. I am not sure, the medical team will be able to advise.” Rahul posted a video ahead of the third test Rajkot where he was seen batting in the nets. The BCCI was miffed with Rahul and issued a warning.

Team India have suffered a few major injury concerns during the ongoing five-match test series against England. Along with KL Rahul, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also missed the second test but he recovered quickly and played in the Rajkot test. Virat Kohli skipped the entire series to personal reasons. Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the full series due to ankle injury.
