The Indian Cricket Team and the New Zealand Cricket Team (IND vs NZ) are squaring off in the first ODI of the three-match series on Sunday, January 11. The encounter is underway at BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara.
India suffered a setback during the first innings when spin all-rounder Washington Sundar was injured while bowling in the match. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter. Smacking half-centuries, Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls build an opening stand of 117 runs.
Daryl Mitchell also reached his half-century in the final five overs, driving the scoreboard to 250-plus at the end of 46 overs.
Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana showed their mettle with the ball, clinching two wickets each. Spinner Sundar bowled five overs in the match, leaking 27 runs at an economy of 5.40. However, after bowling five overs, he left the field and did not return.

Washington Sunder left the field after suffering a back strain while bowling and is currently under medical supervision.
While the BCCI is yet to reveal an update on his injury, the commentators mentioned that he had an issue with his back while bowling and is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. Further updates are awaited.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has returned to captain India in the ODI series against the Black Caps after recovering from his neck injury. Shreyas Iyer has also made his comeback to the national side after successfully recovering from his spleen injury.
India went ahead with all-rounder Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI, while Kuldeep Yadav was the frontline spinner.
