Washington Sundar sustained a side strain in the 1st ODI between India and New Zealand in Vadodara.

Indian Cricket Team and New Zealand Cricket Team clashed in the first ODI of the ongoing five-match series on Sunday, January 11. While, it was a great game for the hosts, they also faced a massive blow as all-rounder Washington Sundar got injured.

The spin all-rounder left the field immediately after bowling five overs. He didn’t return to field then, and there were doubts over him batting as well. Although, he came out to bat, but he had issues running and managed unbeaten seven runs in seven deliveries.

In the post-match presentation, Indian captain Shubman Gill confirmed that Sundar sustained a side strain in the match and the all-rounder will go for scans. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are yet to provide an official confirmation on his injury status.
