The first ODI between the Indian Cricket Team and the New Zealand Cricket Team got underway on Sunday, January 11, at BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara. Both sides are set to clash in a three-match ODI series, followed by five T20I games.

New Zealand named Adithya Ashok in their playing XI. He will lead the team’s spin attack against India in the clash. The 23-year-old youngster is playing his first game against India.
Who is Adithya Ashok?
Adithya Ashok is an Indian-origin cricketer born in Vellore city in Tamil Nadu. He later shifted to New Zealand with his family and commenced his cricketing journey. He is a right-arm leg spinner.
He plays for Auckland in New Zealand’s domestic cricket. In 2020, he represented the New Zealand U19 team in the U19 World Cup in South Africa.
In Plunket Shield 2023, New Zealand’s domestic first-class tournament, he grabbed a seven-wicket haul in a clash, which played a big role in his career to make an entry into the national side.
Notably, Adithya is not playing his first international game. He has already played two matches in the past. In August 2023, he made his international debut in a T20I game against the UAE. Later, he also featured in two ODI games against Bangladesh in December 2023.
Excluding the clash against India, he has picked one wicket in two ODI games at an average of 65.0. He has clinched one wicket in one T20I match at an economy of 7.0.
