Axar Patel is the vice-captain of the Indian T20I team, but his name was missing on the team sheet for fourth IND vs NZ T20I.
The fourth T20I between the Indian Cricket Team and New Zealand Cricket Team is taking place on January 28 (Wednesday). With the five-match series already in their kitty, the Men-in-Blue will now aim for a clean sweep against the Black Caps by winning the remaining two games.
The action now shifts to Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. The Suryakumar Yadav & Co. thoroughly dominated the visitors in the first three games, winning the 1st T20I by 48 runs, the second game by seven wickets and the third encounter by eight wickets.
In the fourth T20I, Suryakumar won the toss once again and opted to field first. At the toss, he informed that India have made one change to their playing XI with Ishan Kishan being ruled out of the clash due to niggle. He was replaced by Arshdeep Singh, who makes a return to XI after being rested for last game. Moreover, Yadav also said that Axar Patel still remains on sidelines.
Why did Axar Patel miss IND vs NZ 4th T20I?

At the toss, the Indian captain informed that Kishan was ruled out of the match due to a niggle. Speaking about Patel, he revealed that he still needs more time to recover from his injury but might be back in the final encounter. Patel sustained a finger injury in the first T20I while bowling. He was hit on his finger by a shot from Daryl Mitchell.
“Arshdeep comes in for Ishan Kishan, who picked up a niggle in the last game. Axar Patel still needs a bit more time, so hopefully we’ll see him in the next game. The batters will need to take a bit more responsibility, but at the same time not shy away from playing with fearless intent. We’ve got five good bowling options today, so we’ll see how it goes,” Yadav stated.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said that they have made only one change, replacing Kyle Jamieson with Zakary Foulkes.
“Most of the guys are already here playing this series. Lockie is still out, and Finn (Allen) is on his way, so we’ve got a couple of additions still to come. But the roles are pretty clear, and we’ll probably get similar wickets in the World Cup. One change – Foulkes comes in for Jamieson. Lockie and Finn are still a little way off, but it’s good to have them coming back,” the Kiwi all-rounder said.
