IND vs PAK: Security beefed up at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad ahead of high-voltage clash

More than 7000 police force, NSG, RAF and home guards to be deployed during IND vs PAK ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 clash.

High-level security arrangements have been made following certain threats involving the upcoming IND vs PAK match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma and his men will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday, October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As part of precautionary measures, security forces will be deployed at several communally sensitive ahead of the big-ticket encounter.

The mouthwatering clash will be witnessed by lakhs of spectators and VVIPs at the stadium in Motera. At a press conference, Ahmedabad police commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik addressed the media and stated, "This is a match on which everyone is eyeing. We expect that they watch it with sportsmanship. In the past 20 years (when Pakistan played India) nothing happened and this time too, we will ensure that no untoward incidents happens."

According to the police force, 21, deputy commissioner of police rank officers, 47 assistant commissioner of police, 131 police inspectors, 369 sub-inspectors and 6875 head constables will be on duty to negate any hiccups.

In addition, 13 companies of State Reserve Police (SRP) and three companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be ensuring safety. Malik said that SRP and RAF will be deployed at 70 areas which are communally sensitive. These areas include Shahpur, Dariapur, among others.

The Pakistan cricket team will be provided with an additional escort team. According to Malik, visitors won't be allowed to take water bottles inside the stadium. However, mobile phones will be allowed to carry inside. Any sort of objectable banner or posters will not be allowed inside the premises of the stadium.

Earlier, Mumbai police received an email from an unidentified person who issued threats to the prime minister of India and blow up the Narendra Modi Stadium. The sender of the email also demanded 500 crore INR and the release of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Last month Gujarat Police filed an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the chief of banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for issuing threats of turning the Cricket World Cup into a terror world cup.
