JUST IN: PCB takes u-turn as IND vs PAK clash in T20 World Cup 2026 to go as per schedule - Reports

The IND vs PAK match of T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place on February 15 in Colombo.

A piece of good news has arrived for cricket fans as the India vs Pakistan clash of T20 World Cup 2026 is likely to take place as per schedule. India and Pakistan are placed in Group A in the tournament and are set to square off on February 15 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

After International Cricket Council (ICC) replaced Bangladesh with Scotland from the 20-team tournament over their request to relocate their matches out of India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were unsatisfied over their actions.

As a mark of protest, PCB decided to boycott the match against arch-rivals India. The Pakistan Government allowed players to participate in the ICC tournament; however, advised them not to play against India. Following the government’s decision, PCB decided to skip their match against India in the group stage.

Since the last few weeks, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and ICC officials have been in talks over the matter. On Saturday, PCB agreed to have an official dialogue with ICC to find a solution.

ICC officials to conduct a meeting with PCB; India vs Pakistan clash likely to go as per schedule

According to a report by The Times of India, ICC delegates Imran Khawaja and Mubashir Usmani reached Lahore on Sunday morning to have a meeting with PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Notably, BCB President Aminul Islam will also be there.

After the meeting, PCB are likely to give the nod to their players to play against India. According to Pratyush Raj of TOI, the IND vs PAK clash will be played as per schedule.

Earlier, PCB had invoked a Force Majeure clause, citing the government’s instructions not to play against their arch-rivals in the first round. In their statement, the Pakistan government did not give any explanation for the decision.

In response, the ICC asked PCB to justify how their action. Moreover, the global cricket body also warned PCB of severe consequences for refusing to play against India.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) also sent an official mail to PCB, warning that their absence would result in huge financial losses and hamper their and the tournament’s image. Sri Lanka are the co-hosts of T20 World Cup with India. The Men-in-Green are scheduled to play all of their matches in Colombo and Pallekele during the tournament.
