The blockbuster match between India and Pakistan in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is less than a few hours away. As the anticipation and excitement increase, fans across the world would be hoping for a gripping battle between bat and ball. After all, to pull off this match, the ICC officials had to put in significant efforts, including travelling all the way to Lahore to convince the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
However, a major scare awaits the ICC and broadcasters, as a third party threatens to spoil the party. The weather forecast for India vs Pakistan has been poor since the schedule was announced, and there has been no improvement. On the eve of the clash, the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo was covered with sheets due to heavy rainfall.
There is a 45-60% prediction of rain between 8-10PM, and it is unlikely for the conditions to improve significantly in 24 hours.
Who will qualify for Super 8 if IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026 gets washed out?

A washout would mean both teams receive one point each, thereby making things interesting for the Super Eight qualifications.
Currently in Group A, after two matches, India and Pakistan both hold 4 points. Assuming the 27th match of the T20 World Cup 2026 is a washout, then both teams would move to 5 points having played three matches.
USA and Netherlands have played 3 matches so far, and have 2 points to their name. Even if both of them were to win their final matches, they would still get to only four points. Namibia meanwhile are yet to open their account, with 2 defeats in 2 matches. The maximum points, these three teams can get to, is four.
