Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium is set to host the big-money IND vs PAK clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Cricket fans are in anticipation of a great contest between the two neighbours on Saturday. Tension is rising among the cricket fans on socialmedia as they continue to back their favourite players. Socialmedia is also divided into two different narratives as few fans trend #BoycottIndoPakMatch on X (formerly twitter).

Why #BoycottIndoPakMatch is trending on X (formerly twitter) ahead of IND vs PAK match?

Socialmedia users are divided between the India vs Pakistan encounter that is set to take place in Ahmedabad. A few sections of fans are not happy with team India playing their arch-rivals amidst the continued tension in LOC and Martyrdom of Indian soldiers. They are not pleased and want everyone to boycott upcoming India vs Pakistan and also ask for a complete boycott of any cricket game between the two neighbours. Currently, India and Pakistan play against each other in either ICC or ACC events.

India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series in the last 10 years. The last time, a bilateral series between the two sides was played in 2012-13 when Pakistan travelled to India for 3 T20Is and as many ODIs. After that, they have only played each other in big events. Pakistan travelled to India in 2016 when BCCI hosted the T20 World Cup. India continues to maintain their stand and they have denied travelling to Pakistan even for an ACC event. Pakistan had to choose Sri Lanka as co-hosts for the Asia Cup 2023.

Pakistan getting grand reception

A few sections of fans are also miffed with the BCCI for the kind of reception the Pakistan team is getting while they travel around the country. A video was viral on socialmedia from Ahmedabad hotel where Pakistani players got a grand welcome. Similarly, when the Pakistan team landed in Hyderabad for their warm-up and first two league games, they got a rousing welcome from the crowd and in the hotel.

A cricket-loving Hyderabad crowd also celebrated good cricket played at the venue by every side at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. India have dominated Pakistan in World Cup games as they have got a 100% win record against their arch-rivals. Pakistan have lost all the 7 games they have played against India in the World Cup.
