South Africa levelled the three-match series by beating India in second IND vs SA ODI.
The second IND vs SA ODI went in favour of South Africa as they won the match by four wickets at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur on Wednesday. With the win, they levelled the three-match series by 1-1.
India didn’t have a great start with the bat despite South Africa giving lot of extras. First, Rohit Sharma (14) fell and then Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) threw away the start he had as the hosts were left reeling at 62 for two. After that, the show was stolen by Ruturaj Gaikwad (105) and Virat Kohli (102). The duo joined the hands and gave a tough time to South African bowlers, adding 195 runs together for third wicket.
While Gaikwad hit his maiden ODI ton, Kohli slammed his second consecutive hundred of the series, his 53rd in ODIs. In the end, KL Rahul (66*) finished the innings on a high and was supported by Ravindra Jadeja (24*) as India posted a total of 358 for five.
South Africa, in the chase, were jolted early as Arshdeep Singh sent Quinton de Kock packing for just eight. But Aiden Markram(110) and captain Temba Bavuma (46) held the fort and brought India back in the game. The Markram-Bavuma duo added 101-run for second wicket that put India under pressure.
Makram hit a blistering ton to keep his team in the game and after he got out, Matthew Breetzke (68) took the charge and slammed a brilliant half-century, his second of the series. Dewald Brevis (54) put India under massive pressure with his brutal fifty, adding 92 runs for fourth wicket.
Tony de Zorzi (17) looked in fine touch but got retired hurt. But that didn’t affect Corbin Bosch as he kept taking on Indian bowlers and helped South Africa chase the target in the last over.
