South Africa defeated India in the second IND vs SA T20I in New Chandigarh on December 11.
The second T20I between Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team took place on Thursday (December 11) at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. South Africa crushed India by 51 runs in the encounter to level the series 1-1.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter, making no changes to the playing XI from the first game. While Varun Chakravarthy gave an early blow to Proteas by dismissing Reeza Hendricks (8) in the fifth over, his opening partner Quinton de Kock went on to smack a 90-run knock.
The wicket-keeper batter etched an incredible stand of 83 runs with Aiden Markram for the second wicket, driving the scoreboard to 121/2 in 12 overs. However, the left-handed batter failed to reach his century, getting dismissed by wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma through a run-out in the 16th over.
In the death overs, Donovan Ferreira added an unbeaten 30 runs, while David Miller hit an unbeaten 20 to drive the board to a gigantic total of 213/4. Indian bowlers largely failed to make an impact, with Chakravarthy clinching two wickets and Axar Patel getting one scalp.

With a mammoth target of 214, India suffered a big blow at the start by losing vice-captain Shubman Gill for a duck in the first over itself. Opener Abhishek Sharma started well with two sixes, however, could only add 17 runs off eight deliveries before becoming a victim of Marco Jansen. Till the first six overs, the hosts lost three wickets for 51 runs on the board, with captain Yadav also getting out cheaply for five runs.
While the top order failed to perform, number five batter Tilak Varma slammed a half-century to keep the winning hopes alive. Hardik Pandya also supported him well to an extent before losing his wicket for 20 runs in the 15th over. In the end, Jitesh Sharma (27) and Varma smacked a few sixes, however, they were helpless against the high required rate in the death overs.
Eventually, the Men in Blue were bowled out for 162, losing the encounter by a big margin of 51 runs. With the victory, Proteas made a powerful comeback to the five-match series, which is tied 1-1 after two games.
