Only 59 overs were bowled in the first day’s play of IND vs SA 1st test in Centurion.

The first test at Supersport Park in Centurion witnessed rain delays ahead of the toss as well as caused call of early stumps on day one. Only 59 overs game was possible and then the rain came in to play spoilsport. South Africa had a terrific outing and put India in trouble with 208 for 8. Kagiso Rabada had a special day with the ball and picked a 5-wicket haul.

South African pacer Kagiso Rabada put Indian batting-order in tatters with his pace and extra bounce. Rabada initiated the wicket-taking spree as he got Rohit Sharma out caught at fine-leg by Nandre Burger. Rabada also got Shreyas Iyer (31), Virat Kohli (38), Ravi Ashwin (8) and Shardul Thakur (24) to complete his 5-wicket haul and 500 international wickets.

Rain is likely to play spoilsport on second day of the first test between India and South Africa as well. Precipitation index shows 70% chances of rain on Wednesday and then it keeps hovering around 20-24% in the rest of the three days during the game. It is likely to rain till 3 PM with a few intense shower in Centurion on Wednesday and the play is likely to be delayed.

After Wednesday, rest of the three days in the game will witness clouds in the sky that will give pace bowlers maximum assistance into the game. Weather is likely to remain pleasant and the maximum temperature will be at 24°C on Thursday and 26°C on Friday. Conditions are likely to remain cloudy and overcast in Centurion. Second day will witness gust of winds at 21 KMPH.

Team India ended the day one on 208 for 8. KL Rahul played crucial role with his stellar knock. Rahul scored 70 runs in 105 with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from KL Rahul, only Virat Kohli (38) and Shreyas Iyer (31) had a decent start but they couldn’t convert it into a big score. Prasidh Krishna was awarded the test cap as he is making his test debut in Centurion.
