The Super 8 clash between India and South Africa got underway on Sunday, February 22. The IND vs SA is the 43rd game of the T20 World Cup 2026, which is taking place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, February 22.
Winning four games in a row, India remained unbeaten in the group stage. The Suryakumar Yadav & Co. outplayed USA, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands in the first round. With eight points, they topped the Group A points table.
South Africa were placed in Group C and finished at the top of their pool with eight points, winning four games in a row. They outplayed Canada, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and the UAE and also have been unbeaten so far.
South Africa captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bat first against India. He revealed that they have made four changes to the playing XI. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav’s India went unchanged.
This meant that vice-captain Axar Patel was again overlooked. He was not part of the previous game against Netherlands, with the management backing Washington Sundar over him.

Captain Yadav, at the toss, also admitted that it was harsh for Axar, but management made the tactical decision of making no changes in the playing XI.
