Mayank Yadav made his T20I debut in the recent series against Bangladesh at home.

On Friday, the BCCI announced a 15-man squad for next month’s T20I tour of South Africa, where the Suryakumar Yadav-led unit will play four T20Is from November 8 to 15.

Since this T20I tour of South Africa will partially overlap with the test tour of Australia, the T20I squad is bereft of the players who have been picked for India A and India teams that will fly to Australia.

However, fast bowler Mayank Yadav has not been picked for either the tour of South Africa or Australia.

Mayank took the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by storm when he clocked 155 KPH and bagged two consecutive Man of the Match awards in his first two IPL games for Lucknow Super Giants. His impressive show in the IPL earned him a maiden T20I call-up to the national side and he got to make his T20I debut in the recent series against Bangladesh at home.

Against Bangladesh, he played in all three T20Is and picked up four wickets while maintaining a good economy of 6.91. But his name is missing from the T20I tour of South Africa.

IND vs SA: Why Mayank Yadav is not included in the India squad for the T20I tour of South Africa?

Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the four-match T20I series in South Africa due to an injury, the BCCI said in its release.

Mayank has been dealing with multiple injuries in recent times, which included an abdominal muscle issue that he sustained during the IPL 2024 and got sidelined for months. Then, while training at the NCA, he picked up another injury.

Meanwhile, Harshit Rana, who was part of the Bangladesh T20Is but didn’t get to make his debut, has been picked in the India A squad to face Australia A and hence he misses out from the South Africa tour. Yash Dayal is part of the T20I squad.

Further, pace-bowling all-rounder Ramandeep Singh and seamer Vijaykumar Vyshak has received their maiden T20I call-ups.

India squad for T20Is against South Africa:
