India had a dominating day with the bat and ball on opening day of the IND vs WI test series.

India started the test series against the West Indies on a high note. They dominated the opening day of the first game, which is underway at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Despite the toss not going their way, they managed to outplay the visitors and took command in the match.

West Indies batted first and had a poor start as Tagenarine Chanderpaul bagged an 11-ball duck. Soon after that, John Campbell (8),  Alick Athanaze (12) and Brandon King (13) were back in the hut as the visitors were left reeling at 42 for four.

Shai Hope (26) and skipper Roston Chase (24) tried to bail their team out of trouble with their 48-run stand. But, they lost their wickets after starts as the West Indies lost five wickets in the first session of play. Later, Justin Greaves (32) played a vital hand despite no support from others. Thanks to his contribution, the West Indies posted 162, which at one stage looked impossible.

For India, Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a four-wicket haul. Jasprit Bumrah also contributed three scalps, while Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar combined to pick three.

India had a solid start to their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) and KL Rahul (53*) batting brilliantly at the top. The duo added 68 runs for the opening stand before a lapse in concentration saw Jaiswal giving his wicket to Jayden Seales.

Sai Sudharsan (7) yet again failed to make a mark at three, but Rahul continued batting flawlessly. He slammed a sensational fifty and was joined by Shubman Gill (18*) in the end and India ended day one at 121 for two, trailing by 41 runs.
