First IND vs WI test will be played from October 2 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium.

Indian Cricket Team are gearing up for a two-match test series against West Indies Cricket Team at home. The series will be the second assignment for both the teams in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

Shubman Gill, who was appointed as India’s test skipper in May ahead of ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle, will lead the home team against the West Indies. The hosts will miss the services of vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who has been ruled out as he is under rehabilitation for his fractured foot.

In Pant’s absence, Ravindra Jadeja has been named as vice-captain of the side. Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan have been included as wicket-keepers in the squad. Notably, Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur, who were in squad during India’s last test series against England, got dropped.

Sai Sudharsan, who made his test debut during Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, has been retained in the squad. Youngster Devdutt Padikkal has been recalled to the test team. He played his last test against Australia in November 2024.

On the other hand, Roston Chase will lead West Indies in the test series. However, the visitors have already faced two big blows ahead of the series. Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph have been ruled out of the series due to injuries. Batters Alick Athanaze and Tagenarine Chanderpaul made a comeback to the test side after a long time.

Coming into the series, Shubman Gill & Co. were outstanding in their last test series, which was against England, finishing the five-match series in a 2-2 draw. On the other hand, West Indies faced a humiliating 3-0 whitewash in their last test series against Australia in June-July.
