Rinku Singh was part of all India’s previous matches in the T20 World Cup 2026.

India are clashing with Zimbabwe in their second match of the Super 8 round in the T20 World Cup 2026. The encounter got underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

After India’s defeat against South Africa in the previous game, the encounter against Zimbabwe is a must-win game for the Men in Blue. India have two more matches left and will have to win both to reach the semi-finals. The defending champions will face the West Indies in their last match of the Super 8 round.

Notably, the Indian team suffered massive issues with their batting in their previous game against South Africa, where they were all out for just 111 runs while chasing 188 for victory. None of the batters could even score a fifty, as Shivam Dube scored the highest score of 42 runs.

As a result, India made a crucial change in their batting unit against Zimbabwe. At the toss, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Rinku Singh was not part of the match.

Notably, Rinku has been dropped from the encounter due to his poor form in the tournament. He was part of all previous games but was replaced by Sanju Samson in the playing XI against Zimbabwe.

Across five games, he has scored just 24 runs at a strike rate of 82.75. He got out cheaply for 6 and 1 in the first two games against the USA and Namibia, before scoring unbeaten 11* and 6* against Pakistan and the Netherlands. He was gone for a duck in the previous match against South Africa.

Moreover, Rinku also left the squad ahead of the India vs Zimbabwe clash due to a family emergency. He had gone home to visit his ailing father. Due to this, he was unable to join the team’s training session before the match.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to field first in the match. Below is India’s playing XI for match 48 of Super 8.

India’s playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy.
