India 1983 World Cup team celebrate 40th anniversary 35,000 feet up in the air

India defeated West Indies by 43 runs in the World Cup Final on 25th June 1983.

India’s 1983 World Cup win is a moment to savor for billions in the country. The famous Final victory has been completed 40 years, it was on 25th June 1983 when India defeated West Indies in the 1983 World Cup Final to win their first ever big title in Cricket. The Adani Group hosted an event and started a campaign ‘Jeetenge hum’ for the upcoming 2023 World Cup. Adani group’s campaign has a motive of celebrating India’s past victories and heroes and also the ones playing currently for the nation. India last won the World Cup in 2011 when they last hosted the tournament along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. 

1983 World Cup winner member Kirti Azad posted a video on Twitter with the caption, “The World Cup Champion 1983 team travelling together to celebrate our 40th-anniversary victory on 25th June, 35000 feet up in the air. We are proud Indians and love India. #BharatMataKiJai”.

The 1983 team members were having a good time travelling with each other once again. World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev presented Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani a special signature bat. The same bat will be handed over to the 2023 World Cup team as a source of inspiration. 

Kapil Dev said, “We are honoured to unite with the Adani Group in rallying behind Team India for the ODI World Cup 2023. This campaign symbolises the excitement and the indomitable spirit that propelled us to victory in the 1983 World Cup”. The Current BCCI President and 1983 World Cup’s leading wicket-taker Roger Binny also showed confidence in the current team and said, “Being part of the 1983 World Cup winning team was an incredible journey filled with determination and team spirit. Together, we believe in the potential of our current players to bring back the coveted trophy”.
