India 'A' squad for Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024 announced; Tilak Varma to lead

India ‘A’ will face Pakistan A in their first game of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 2024 on October 19.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India ‘A’ squad for the upcoming T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. Young batting sensation Tilak Varma has been appointed as captain of the 15-member squad, which is set to played in Oman starting from October 19. The upcoming tournament will mark the first time when the Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format.
India A will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan A on October 19. The other teams in their group include hosts Oman and the UAE. The Indian squad includes several IPL stars, and the team would be aiming to secure the title, which they last won in 2013.
India’s star-studded squad
Tilak Varma, who has played for the Indian cricket team in four ODIs and 16 T20Is, will be joined by several players with international experience. Abhishek Sharma, who had a blistering Indian Premier League season, and Rahul Chahar, a key member of Punjab Kings, are also part of the squad.
The India A squad consists of several notable IPL performers. Ayush Badoni (Lucknow Super Giants), Prabhsimran Singh (Punjab Kings), Anuj Rawat (Royal Challengers Bangalore), and Nehal Wadhera (Mumbai Indians) have all proven their mettle in the IPL. They will form the backbone of the batting lineup, while the bowling attack will be led by R Sai Kishore and Vaibhav Arora.
All-rounders Nishant Sindhu and Anshul Kamboj, who have excelled in domestic cricket, add versatility to the side. Sindhu, a member of India’s U19 World Cup-winning team in 2022, and Kamboj, who impressed in the Duleep Trophy, are expected to play crucial roles.
