ENG vs IND: "We want more runs"- Ryan ten Doeschate drops a massive hint on Karun Nair's future after failure in three games

Karun Nair has scored 131 runs in three tests with a best of 40 in the ongoing series.
Ryan Ten Doeschate, India‘s assistant coach, has revealed his thoughts on Karun Nair’s form following his repeated failure to convert starts into large scores in the ongoing series against England. Nair, who returned to international cricket after seven years due to a successful domestic career, has failed to deliver with the bat.
Nair has scored 131 runs in three matches at an average of 21.83, with a top score of 40. In the last two tests, Nair batted at number three and received starts but failed to register big scores or go on to score a fifty or a hundred.
Ten Doeschate recently commented on Nair’s performance, stating that his rhythm and tempo have been strong, but that the team needs more runs from its top three.
“Even someone like Karun, we feel his rhythm is good, his tempo is good. We want more runs from the three. But the message is mainly, let’s really focus on what we’ve done well and tidy up the little things that have cost us results, essentially,” said Ten Doeschate in the press conference.
What added to Karun’s woes was how he got out during the Lord’s test, particularly in the second innings. Brydon Carse bowled an indipper to Karun and the India batter shouldered arms to the delivery, which hit his pads just around the off-stump and he was given out LBW.
“Might be counterintuitive”- Ryan ten Doeschate on playing XI changes

The assistant coach also emphasised that although the batters have scored a lot of runs in the series thus far, the primary cause of their decline is the clustering of wickets they have lost.
“That might be counterintuitive when you’re 2-1 down in the series. But we feel like the guys have been excellent for large parts of the series. The repetition of losing lots of wickets in a very short space of time has obviously been the key feature of the two losses. Probably both times in Headingley and obviously overnight and first thing in the morning at Lord’s, we feel cost us the game was losing six wickets for 40 again,” he added.
The management may be tempted to make some changes to their playing XI and bench players who aren’t doing well, because India is now behind 1-2 in the series. Therefore, with Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran warming the bench, Nair’s spot may be in jeopardy.
At Headingley, Leeds, Sudharsan participated in the first test match, scoring 0 and 30 runs in two innings.
